CALLED OUT Have your ever been called out on something? Someone jokingly says, “Oh no wait a minute! I can’t let that slide. I’ve got to call you out on that one.” Perhaps you have really been called on the carpet for something. It’s not pleasant. There is something about being called out that sets us in a certain tension. For a moment we’re uneasy. When Jesus said, “I will build my church” he coined a new word, “ecclesia.” It means “called out.” Jesus called us out and sent us in. Is your curiosity piqued?
