Jesus often taught using parables. One very popular one is found in Luke 15:11-32, and is usually referred to as The Prodigal Son. It has been given this name historically, because of the Latin word, prodigo, which means "wasteful." However, as you will see, this story is more about the father's love than the two sons who failed him. This parable calls to mind the extravagant love of our heavenly Father and causes us to stop and take a look in the mirror.
